Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Estimator - Residential is responsible for assisting Estimators with winning work by creating accurate, detailed, and competitive proposals. This role supports takeoffs, vendor coordination, plan management, and bid package preparation while progressing toward Estimator I competency.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Estimators with bidding and winning work.
  • Bid work accurately, competitively, and on time.
  • Scan, manage, and organize paper and electronic plans.
  • Coordinate with vendors for pricing and sub bids.
  • Assist with creating shop drawings and project manuals.
  • Understand builders' philosophies, hierarchy, bid format, and presentation requirements.
  • Assist the Project Engineer with obtaining necessary permits.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

Position Requirements
MUST HAVE - REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to read plans and engineering - architectural, shop drawings, structural, and civil plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented; works well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Pass the Company Driver Approval Process.
  • Pass mandatory pre-employment and ongoing drug screening.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Able to read and write in English and/or Spanish at a level sufficient to follow safety instructions, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

NICE TO HAVE - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in construction, masonry, or estimating support.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish).
  • Familiarity with takeoff software and estimating tools.
  • OSHA 10 card.
