What are Weekend AWS IAM roles and responsibilities?

Weekend AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management) professionals are responsible for managing user access and permissions in Amazon Web Services environments, specifically during weekend shifts. Their duties include creating and managing IAM users and groups, setting up policies, monitoring access logs, troubleshooting permission issues, and ensuring compliance with security standards. They play a crucial role in maintaining the security and integrity of AWS resources when core teams may not be available. These skills ensure secure and uninterrupted cloud operations during critical weekend periods when support coverage is limited.

What are some challenges unique to working as an AWS IAM specialist on weekends?

As a Weekend AWS IAM specialist, you'll often be responsible for handling urgent access requests, troubleshooting permission issues, and ensuring security compliance during off-peak hours when support resources may be limited. Communicating and collaborating with colleagues who work weekday shifts is essential to maintain seamless operations and effective handover of tasks.
