Show Audio Technician
What you get to do:
The Show Audio Technician is responsible for the daily audio operations, technical maintenance, and stage hand duties within an assigned theatrical venue or event space. This role focuses on mastering the specific audio system, mix, and operational requirements of a dedicated show location, ensuring consistent, high-quality execution and system reliability for every performance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Venue Audio Operations: Learn, master, and reliably execute audio mix/operation duties and track playback for all performances within an assigned show venue.
• Daily System Inspections: Perform venue opening and closing procedures, system power-ups/downs, daily line checks, wireless RF scans, and signal path verification.
• Live Performance Execution: Operate audio consoles, wireless microphone systems, playback software, and stage gear during live shows and special events with precision and adherence to show standards.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on venue audio equipment, cabling, speaker arrays, and control networks.
• Production & Event Support: Assist technical leads and production teams with equipment load-ins, audio tuning, system adjustments, and tear-downs for show updates or venue events.
• Venue Readiness & Safety: Monitor and take initiative to ensure the assigned audio booth, backstage areas, and equipment are 100% show-ready, safe, clean, and organized at all times.
• Stage & SM Collaboration: Work closely with Stage Managers and Technical Supervisors to execute daily show tasks, complete project lists, and maintain operational logs.
• Skill Development: Pursue ongoing technical growth, system training, and deeper mastery of the assigned venue's audio layout and signal flow.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
What It takes to succeed:
• Preferred 1 year of professional audio experience in a live theater, theme park, or live event environment.
• Hands-on familiarity with digital mixing consoles, wireless RF systems, audio playback software, and basic signal routing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear, professional headset/comms etiquette.
• Ability to maintain focus and deliver a consistent, high-quality audio execution for repetitive live performances.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable climbing ladders, working in lifts, and working at heights between 6 and 65 feet.
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, twist, and kneel for extended periods with complete flexibility.
• Comfortable working in diverse environments (indoors/outdoors, varied weather conditions, low-light/dark settings, around water, high noise/vibration levels, and around animals).
• Ability to train on and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Flexible schedule availability based on operational needs, including opening/closing shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and event rehearsal shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Audio-specific training or certifications (e.g., Dante Certification, Q-SYS, Manufacturer Training).
• Prior live mixing or track-running experience in a theatrical show environment.
Compensation: 16.50 USD
