Job description

Assembly OperatorPay Rate: $19.04/hr
Shift: 7:30pm – 6:00am CST, Monday through Thursday
Overtime: Some overtime required on Fridays and Saturdays (typically every other weekend)
Position SummaryThe Assembly Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining high-speed, large-scale automated assembly machines. This role involves making complex equipment repairs and adjustments, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and ensuring product quality through regular inspections and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate assigned high-speed automated assembly equipment according to company standards.
  • Perform complex repairs, set-ups, and changeovers on assembly machinery.
  • Conduct quality checks as detailed in the Quality Inspection Plan (QIP), and accurately document all specified measurements at required intervals.
  • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly preventive and routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Make tooling adjustments, including sharpening/conditioning, checking spring-loaded pins (pin-out), and adjusting bend and insertion stations.
  • Replace machine components such as sensors, punches, dies, stock parts, air cylinders, and belts as needed.
  • Adjust housing feeds and other machine functions based on established standards.
  • Use measurement tools such as height indicators, ram optics, gauges, and microscopes for precision checks.
  • Identify and resolve machine faults, clear jams, restart production lines, and properly package finished products.
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and clean work area at all times.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant on-the-job experience or vocational training in assembly or related manufacturing roles.
  • Solid understanding of company procedures and the ability to apply job skills effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Proficient in using various measurement and inspection tools.
  • Ability to recognize when deviations from standard procedures are necessary and take appropriate action.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to perform semi-routine tasks with some variation and judgment.
