Position Purpose
To develop students' interest, abilities, talents and skills for artistic expression and creativity in the visual arts, as well as aesthetic understanding and appreciation by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans; modeling the necessary skills to performing assigned tasks; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Our learning community is looking for candidates that have the following essential skills:
  • Effective Communication: Clear and concise communication skills are essential for explaining concepts, giving instructions, and communicating with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience and Empathy: Elementary teachers need to be patient and understanding, as they work with students who may have different learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Classroom Management: The ability to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment is crucial. This includes establishing and enforcing rules, managing student behavior, and keeping students engaged.?
  • Adaptability: Flexibility is key in responding to the diverse needs of students and adjusting teaching methods accordingly. Teachers must be able to adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet individual and group needs.

  • Masters Degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Successful prior teaching experience in art for the appropriate grade level preferred.

The salary range will start at 50,000 with more by years of experience, including IPERS
