Job Description
This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager.
The Student Worker will provide general support and assistance to the faculty, staff, and students in the glass and ceramic studios at San Bernardino Valley College. The ideal candidate must be capable of working with a diverse student population.
Responsibilities:
  • Aid students, faculty, and staff within the glass and ceramic studios.
  • Ensure studio coverage by monitoring actions of all studio users.
  • Assist students with their inquiries and needs related to the Art Department and studio use.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the glass and ceramic studios.
  • Assist with mopping and clean-up tasks adhering to proper studio procedures determined by faculty.
  • Properly store tools, equipment and materials.
  • Be prepared to work in a working studio environment and with materials that can be dirty at times.
  • Perform other related studio duties as assigned within the glass and ceramic studios by faculty and staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Possession of a Federal Work Study award letter for the current academic year.
  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 units at San Bernardino Valley College.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Current TB test.
  • Ability to follow directions and carry out assigned duties.
  • Familiarity with equipment/tools used in the Art Department or completion of related courses.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff within the Art Department.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Diligence in following instructions carefully.
  • Eagerness to learn and practice studio skills within an art-related setting with minimal supervision.
