These roles are designed for people who may have weekday commitments, such as school or another job, but want to gain hands-on experience and training in a specific trade or profession. Weekend Apprenticeships can be found in various industries, such as hospitality, retail, construction, and automotive services. They provide practical skills, mentorship, and often lead to full-time opportunities or certifications. This flexible format allows participants to develop valuable job skills without interfering with their weekday responsibilities.

Job description

Electrical Apprentice - Mr. Electric of Golden CO

Build a Career You're Proud Of

This isn't a job where you'll spend years carrying tools and waiting for someone to teach you something.

At Mr. Electric of Golden CO, we're looking for an Electrical Apprentice who wants to become an excellent electrician - technically skilled, professional with customers, and capable of eventually running residential service calls independently.

You'll work alongside experienced, licensed electricians while learning residential electrical installation, troubleshooting, electrical safety, code requirements, and the customer-service skills that separate a good electrician from a premium Service Electrician.

We serve Golden, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Denver, Evergreen, the foothills, Summit County, and Vail. Our customers expect professionalism, clear communication, and work done right the first time. That commitment has earned us 150+ five-star Google reviews and a reputation built on trust.

If you want to learn the trade from professionals who care about craftsmanship - and build toward a real career rather than simply having another job - keep reading.

What Makes Us Different

You'll Learn More Than How to Wire

Becoming a great electrician requires more than knowing electrical code.

You'll learn how to:

  • Troubleshoot electrical problems instead of simply replacing parts
  • Understand why electrical systems are installed the way they are
  • Recognize safety and code issues
  • Perform clean, professional installations
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners
  • Explain electrical problems in language customers can understand
  • Develop solutions instead of making guesses
  • Take responsibility for the quality of your work

Our goal isn't simply to teach you enough to pass a licensing exam.

Our goal is to help you become the kind of electrician customers trust and other electricians respect.

A Real Path Toward Becoming a Service Electrician

As your knowledge and experience grow, so will your responsibilities.

You'll begin by working alongside licensed electricians and assisting with installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and service calls. As you demonstrate competence, you'll be expected to perform increasingly complex work with appropriate supervision.

Over time, you'll learn the entire residential service process - from diagnosing a problem through completing the repair and explaining the solution to the homeowner.

The goal is clear:

Apprentice Licensed Electrician Residential Service Electrician

For someone who wants to learn and is willing to put in the work, there is significant opportunity to grow with the company.

Mountain Work Is Part of the Territory

In addition to Golden and surrounding communities, we service Summit County and Vail, and our electricians typically head into the mountains approximately once per week on average.

That means you'll gain experience working on a wide variety of homes and electrical systems - from older foothills properties to newer mountain homes.

If you enjoy mountain drives, cooler summer temperatures, and working in some of Colorado's most beautiful communities, that's a definite upside.

The Environment Here

We are locally owned. Decisions are made here.

You'll work with experienced electricians and have direct access to the owner. We're building this company around strong systems, high standards, technical competence, and a long-term reputation - not simply around completing as many jobs as possible.

Questions are encouraged.

If you don't understand why something is being done, ask.

If you see something that doesn't look right, speak up.

If you make a mistake, own it, learn from it, and don't make the same mistake twice.

We expect apprentices to learn, think critically, and become increasingly independent as their skills develop.

You'll also have:

  • No on-call
  • Weekends are yours
  • Company transportation during the workday as appropriate
  • Company iPad and modern field technology
  • Organized, well-maintained service vehicles
  • Strong office support
  • Ongoing technical and customer-service training
  • Exposure to many different types of residential electrical work

Our company vehicles represent the business everywhere they go, so employees entrusted with them are expected to drive safely and professionally and maintain them appropriately.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Electrical Apprentice, you'll work under the supervision of licensed electricians while learning to:

  • Troubleshoot residential electrical systems
  • Install and replace receptacles, switches, lighting, and electrical devices
  • Install new circuits and wiring
  • Assist with electrical panel replacements and upgrades
  • Install EV charging circuits and equipment
  • Install whole-home surge protection
  • Assist with generators and backup-power solutions
  • Perform grounding and bonding work
  • Identify electrical safety and code concerns
  • Use meters and diagnostic equipment properly
  • Read electrical diagrams, equipment specifications, and applicable electrical codes
  • Protect customers' homes while working
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and vehicles
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners
  • Document work using our field-service software
  • Learn how experienced Service Electricians diagnose problems and develop solutions

You'll be exposed to the complete residential service process rather than spending every day performing one repetitive task.

Who Thrives Here

The apprentices who will succeed with us:

  • Want to become licensed electricians
  • Are curious and want to understand why, not just how
  • Take pride in doing things correctly
  • Accept coaching and constructive criticism
  • Ask questions when they don't understand something
  • Show up on time, prepared, and ready to work
  • Treat customers and their homes with respect
  • Keep tools, materials, vehicles, and work areas organized
  • Are comfortable using technology
  • Understand that safety comes before speed
  • Take responsibility for mistakes instead of making excuses
  • Want increasing responsibility as their skills improve

You do not need to know everything yet.

That's why this is an apprenticeship.

But you do need to bring the attitude, reliability, curiosity, and work ethic required to become an excellent electrician.

If you're looking for somewhere to simply accumulate hours, this probably isn't the right fit.

If you're looking for a place to build skills, earn your license, and eventually become a highly capable Service Professional, we should talk.

Requirements

  • Registered Colorado Electrical Apprentice, or ability and willingness to become registered
  • Genuine interest in becoming a licensed electrician
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of residential electrical work, including ladders, crawlspaces, attics, lifting, and working outdoors
  • Comfortable working with hand tools and learning electrical test equipment
  • Comfortable using an iPad and mobile technology
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Professional appearance and communication
  • Reliable transportation to the designated starting location when required
  • Previous electrical experience is helpful, but not required for the right candidate

Compensation & Benefits

$21-$30 per hour, based on electrical experience and demonstrated skill

  • Regular opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation as skills develop
  • Health and dental options
  • Paid holidays & PTO
  • Retirement plan with company match
  • Paid technical and service training options
  • Field experience working alongside licensed electricians
  • Exposure to troubleshooting, service work, and larger residential projects
  • Stable, growing workload
  • Clear path toward becoming a licensed Service Electrician

Why Join Now?

We're expanding across Golden, the foothills, and Summit County.

That creates an opportunity for someone entering the electrical trade today to grow alongside the company rather than waiting years for an opportunity to move up.

We're not looking for cheap labor.

We're looking for someone we can develop into an excellent electrician.

If you want to learn the trade, earn your license, develop real troubleshooting ability, and eventually have the skills and confidence to run your own service calls, apply today.

We respond quickly.
