Job description

PURPOSE STATEMENT
To enable all students to benefit from the educational opportunities to the fullest by eliminating, to the degree possible, any factor that may interfere with learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Continues the development and organizes a team taught, technology based, integrated curriculum that meets state, district and school standards.
  • Maximizes opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students.
  • Actively participates in the establishment of policies and procedures that make sense for this unique teaching and learning environment.
  • Supports principles of Project Based Learning (PBL) and integration of curriculum.
  • Shows confidence in working with new technology and various application packages.
  • Be role model for students regarding lifelong learning and professional behavior.
  • Models the learning expectations that students are to accomplish.
  • Works closely with the building Director to collaboratively lead the school through a shared decision making process.
  • Being comfortable with the use of technology.
  • Effectively uses computer and technology skills consistent with the school's operating standards.
  • Mandatory daily collaboration amongst teachers.
  • Participates in mandatory summer training.
  • Team teaches and collaboratively integrates the standards from more than one curriculum base.
  • Shares common planning time with teaching partners to create PBL activities to include both sets of standards.
  • Creates and maintains an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Communicate electronically with students, parents and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance and behavior
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors and other school staff
  • Perform other duties assigned.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assigned students and paraprofessionals.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups being taught.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Science.  Successful teaching experience desirable.
CERTIFICATION
Certificate, teaching license for area in which applying to teach, or other legal credential required.
