ROLE : BUSINESS SYSTEM ANALYST

LOCATION: AUSTIN, HOUSTON HYBRID: 3-DAYS PER WEEK

PROVEN BA EXPERIENCE IN INSURANCE OR FINANCIAL SERVICES.

HANDS-ON KNOWLEDGE OF SURETY BONDS.

STRONG COMMUNICATION AND DOCUMENTATION SKILLS.

Job Summary:

  • The Sr. Business Systems Analyst is the primary interface among the business application team, senior stakeholders and executives in order to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. 
  • The Sr. Business Systems Analyst understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends and documents solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.
  • This position is to support the Data Integrations Solutions team, the candidate will define and document data flows between systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • BSA for Surety Bonds
  • Responsible for developing requirements and specifications that support the projects assigned to: business requirements, functional requirements, system requirements, and report specifications.
  • Acts as a senior team member to ensure projects and tasks continue to align with project charter and business cases.
  • Develops test scenarios and test cases for use in system and integration testing.
  • Provides expertise to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve the desired business outcomes.
  • Provides expertise in the modelling/mapping of business processes; conducts as-is/to-be business processes, is instrumental in the business process re-engineering (BPR) and involved in the change management exercise.
  • Writes and presents business cases.
  • Occasionally required to work late evening and weekends as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience

Certifications:

  • LEAN and/or Agile certifications a plus
  • Insurance certifications or affiliation with industry group a plus
  • Previous experience working with surety bonds (huge plus)

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years’ experience as a business systems analyst, ideally gained in either an insurance or insurance related business environment.
  • Experienced practitioner of analysis and modelling tools
  • Significant Experience with Agile processes and frameworks
  • Familiarity with design thinking and customer centric design

  • Excellent stakeholder management and written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; ability to identify, resolve issues with minimal guidance
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information in a business-friendly manner
