HVAC Service Technician


The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for, safely and neatly, evaluating and repairing existing HVAC equipment, while leaving a positive impression on the homeowner.

The various tasks, duties and responsibilities commonly carried out by HVAC Service Technician are highlighted below:

  • Perform thorough evaluations of existing HVAC equipment, not only to figure out why it is not working, but to also look for future issues.
  • Decide whether it is better to repair or replace equipment and confidently relay information to homeowners.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Properly use many different meters, gauges and tools in order to effectively evaluate the status of equipment.
  • Safely and neatly remove faulty parts and reinstall new parts without damage to other parts of the system.
  • Perform repairs of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
  • Use problem solving skills and make adaptions in order to repair equipment.
  • Determine the right material needed to complete repairs.
  • Keep track of parts on company vans and restock as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicle appearance.
  • Properly relay information via phone to other technicians, supervisors or manufacturer representatives, in order to collaborate on solutions.
  • Communicate with homeowner and be able to explain issues in a manner they can understand.
  • Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day
  • Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time.
