PFW - Athletic Trainer II
City: Fort Wayne
Job Description:
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
(Modified) Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking (3) full-time, onsite Athletic Trainer II in our Athletics department. This position works with the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, the athletic training staff and team physicians to deliver a high level of athletic health care for division one intercollegiate athletes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Evaluation of acute and chronic athletic injuries
  • Assist team physicians in athletic injuries
  • Maintain ATR and work space cleanliness
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies
  • Practice and game medical coverage
  • Acute treatment of athletic injuries
  • Implement emergency action plans as needed
  • Appropriately apply therapeutic modalities to student-athletes
  • Develop and execute injury specific rehabilitation plans
  • Assist with supply inventory and ordering
  • File insurance claims for athletic injuries
  • Maintain detailed medical records of student-athletes
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field from a CAATE accredited athletic training education program. *Applicants with a Spring 2026 graduation date will be considered. Any offer will be contingent upon graduation and certification*
  • 0-1-year experience in sports medicine, physical therapy and/or athletic training.
  • NATA-BOC certification and Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy degree.
  • Must be able to carry and lift coolers of ice, water, and medical equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
  • Must have weekend availability with frequent travel flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field from a CAATE accredited athletic training education program. *Applicants with a Spring 2026 graduation date will be considered. Any offer will be contingent upon graduation and certification*
