Job description

ITnova is seeking an experienced H-1 Ordnance Technician (CDQAR / QASO) to join our aviation maintenance team supporting mission-critical rotary-wing aircraft operations. In this role, you will provide ordnance maintenance support while serving as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) and/or Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO), ensuring aircraft ordnance systems and weapons components meet established quality, safety, and operational standards. Responsibilities include conducting quality assurance inspections, overseeing ordnance maintenance activities, verifying configurations and functional checks, providing technical guidance to ordnance personnel, and ensuring compliance with applicable maintenance, explosive safety, and documentation requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with aircraft ordnance systems, a strong background in quality assurance and safety oversight, and a commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and mission-ready operations in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as a CDQAR and/or QASO in the ordnance discipline (MOS 6531/6541 or equivalent) during the contract period.
  • Performs inspection, loading, downloading, maintenance, and quality assurance oversight of aircraft ordnance systems and weapons components. 
  • Conducts initial, in-progress, and final QA inspections on ordnance configurations, installations, and maintenance actions.
  • Ensures compliance with CNAFINST 4790.2, NAMP, explosive safety requirements, and applicable ordnance publications.
  • Maintains ordnance logs, records, and documentation using OOMA and required forms. 
  • Performs functional checks, troubleshooting, and verification of weapons systems and associated components.
  • Provides technical guidance and oversight to ordnance personnel to ensure compliant, safe, and high-quality work.
  • Supports flight line launch and recovery operations, as required.
  • Assists in PQDR processing, discrepancy reporting, and corrective action documentation. 
  • Ensures strict compliance with explosive safety, handling, storage, issue, and accountability requirements.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 8 years aviation maintenance experience with at least 4 years rotary-wing experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years CDI, CDQAR, QA, or QASO experience in the ordnance discipline or equivalent quality assurance background.
  • Experience in ordnance MOS 653X or an equivalent armament specialty is required. 
  • Knowledge of explosive safety regulations, handling procedures, and aircraft armament systems is required. 
  • Proficiency in OOMA and maintenance documentation systems is required. 
  • Must be U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Secret clearance. 
  • Must be able to meet any Government and company licensing or qualification requirements for the position.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
  • Able to pass a fit-for-work physical and/or drug test as required. 
  • Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working overhead.
  • Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flight line, as required.
  • Must be able to man and perform flight line extinguisher duties, as required.
  • If required, must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate powered industrial trucks. 
  • If required, must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 to 4 hours. 
  • If required, must be able to perform confined-space activities. 
  • Travel may be required.
