Duties The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as the Senior Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer with overall supervision and management of either an Aircraft Generation Squadron (AGS), a Maintenance Squadron (MS), a Rescue Squadron (RQS), a Flying Squadron (FS), or a Logistics Support Squadron (LSS) and, as such, has final accountability for all phases of squadron administrative activities. Duty 1: Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the squadron. Manages assigned logistics resources and ensures production to meet operational requirements and technical standards. Duty 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. Duty 3: Represents organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Qualifications THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN OFFICER POSITION. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at 452 AIRCRAFT MAINT SQ with the military rank of O-4, AFSC: 021A3. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 1601 Aircraft Maintenance Manager. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating activities of the squadron. Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-11 grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1\. Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations. 2\. Knowledge of basic operating principles of assigned aircraft systems and components; basic munitions, munitions procedures and quality assurance and other unit operations. 3\. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 4/. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of logistics management information systems. 5\. Knowledge and ability to interpret instructions, specifications, technical orders, publications and operating procedures. Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. AFRC command-wide geographic mobility is a condition of employment for all ART officer positions . May act in the absence of higher level supervisor up to and including the Group or Squadron Commander or Senior ART. When in this capacity, reviews and implements decisions and actions taken with unit commander and those in lateral organizations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
