Job description

Position Summary:
The Vendor & Product Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing the company's vendor and product compliance programs to ensure products meet regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations. This role oversees product testing, compliance documentation, vendor accountability, and regulatory initiatives while partnering cross-functionally to support product development, sourcing, and operational excellence through standardized processes, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain vendor and product compliance programs, including policies, procedures, standards, and operational guidelines that support regulatory compliance and company quality expectations.
  • Manage vendor compliance throughout the product lifecycle, including vendor onboarding documentation, product testing, packaging requirements, shipping standards, corrective actions, and ongoing supplier communication.
  • Own the product testing program by developing, reviewing, and maintaining testing protocols, while coordinating testing and regulatory compliance activities with external laboratories (Bureau Veritas), vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure products meet applicable regulatory, retailer, and company requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and compliance metrics by developing dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and reporting that identify trends, measure accountability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Development, Planning, Logistics, Quality Control, Fulfillment Operations, and other business teams to establish compliance expectations, resolve issues, mitigate risk, and improve operational execution.
  • Support the development and administration of vendor accountability programs, including compliance tracking, corrective action management, and chargeback processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in vendor management, procurement, or supply chain management within the retail industry, preferably in home furnishings.

Special Requirements:
  • Occasional weekend work as required to meet business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of product safety regulations, product testing methodologies, retailer compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes and testing protocols.
  • Strong project and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, assess risk, and implement process improvements.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with reporting tools and data analysis is highly desirable.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, standardization, and scalability.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is advantageous

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motions, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel; push and/or pull with arms and reach with arms and/or hands; crouch, kneel, crawl or bend
  • Lift up to 50lbs
  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and interpreting data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading
