Job description

We are looking for an ACH Operations Specialist to support treasury operations for a banking organization in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can manage high-volume payment activity, assist commercial clients, and help maintain strong operational controls. The position combines transaction oversight, issue resolution, fraud awareness, and adherence to banking and ACH regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily ACH origination and return workflows to help ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Examine ACH activity for unusual patterns, potential fraud concerns, and compliance with applicable operating rules.
• Handle returns, notifications of change, and proof of authorization requests while maintaining complete and accurate records.
• Track unauthorized return levels and escalate items that may require risk review or corrective action.
• Communicate with commercial clients regarding exceptions, return activity, and ACH-related compliance matters.
• Support clients with ACH processing questions and work to resolve issues with a high level of service.
• Calculate and apply ACH-related fees, reserve changes, and adjustments tied to return activity.
• Monitor processing schedules to identify missing files, halted batches, and other operational exceptions.
• Work with treasury operations and internal business partners to address processing issues and improve workflow efficiency.
• Prepare documentation and reporting in Microsoft Excel and recommend enhancements to controls and operating procedures.• At least 2 years of ACH operations experience within a bank or other financial institution.
• Practical knowledge of ACH operating rules and standard processing requirements.
• Experience with ACH origination support, return processing, notifications of change, and proof of authorization research.
• Ability to work directly with commercial customers on ACH activity, exceptions, and compliance-related questions.
• Strong analytical skills with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including data reconciliation and lookup functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
• ACH certification, experience with ACH processing platforms, or background in treasury management, merchant services, fraud monitoring, or exception handling is preferred.
