About the Role

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented Cost Accountant. This role will assemble information from sources throughout the company and verify, reconcile, record, adjust, and prepare required Financial Control Reports relating to Merchandise Sales, Cost of Sales, and Inventories, including the following:

Cost of Sales: Prepare and verify the inventory adjustments, including Cost of Sales, POS Markdowns, Transfers, Vendor Allowances & Price Protection, Intra-Co. Fees from Service Department, Inventory Shrink & Obsolescence, Shipping & Freight Costs, RTV Cost of Sales Adjustments, Destroyed Merchandise, and Purchase Discounts.

Merchandise Inventory: Prepare and process inventory adjustments to ensure the accuracy of the Inventory System (IPMS).

Reports: Maintain and modify when necessary, reports reflecting daily sales and COGS for all divisions of Micro Electronics, Inc.

Physical Inventory: Participate in Physical Inventory three times per year.  This will require working on those three "Inventory Weekends" on Saturday and Sunday.

Reports to and assists the Inventory Control Manager in special projects and in physical inventory taking, reconciliation, and reporting.                                      

What You'll Do

  • Process & Balance Store Use Merchandise - Daily/Weekly - prepare, adjust, & transfer store use merchandise:
    • Receive transfers from stores, adjust inventory, & make corresponding GL entries
  • Process Wires Daily
    • Prepare wire packet for AP
    • Process wire in the bank
  • Price Protections & Vendor Allowances - On a weekly basis, process price protections and vendor allowances in the inventory IPMS system
  • Inventory Adjustment - On an as needed basis, process inventory adjustments (destructions, conversions, write-offs, transfers, invoice receiver variances & other miscellaneous inventory adjustments
  • Document all systems and make recommendations for improvement and efficiencies

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably working with inventory management systems (IPMS experience is a plus), accounting software, or other inventory-related processes
  • Solid understanding of business accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets for reconciliations, reporting, and transaction tracking
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, organize diverse workloads, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
