The Technician will be responsible for installation, termination and configuration, without direct supervision, of access control devices, such as: card readers, request to exits, electrified door hardware, access control panels, analog and IP cameras, camera servers (NVR), power supplies, cable pathway systems and various cable that includes but is not limited to: twisted pair cable, low voltage cable and coax. They will be directly responsible for onsite tasking of Field Technicians and Installers to meet the project milestones set by the Project Managers and Field Supervisors. Installations are performed in both new construction and retrofit scenarios in a variety of environments.
Essential Functions
โ€ข Install various access control devices and electrified door hardware
โ€ข Install and connect access control panels, power supplies and control equipment
โ€ข Install and program various CCTV; analog and IP cameras
โ€ข Install and program various types of NVR's and VMS platforms
โ€ข Install cable and pathway systems to support security systems
โ€ข Work in a team environment under project manager, leading a group of field technicians
โ€ข Maintain a high level of quality control
โ€ข Ensure safety on the job site
โ€ข Perform end-user training
โ€ข Participate in project commissioning and testing
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test
โ€ข Minimum of 3 years installation experience in one or more of the following low voltage, security and surveillance areas:
o CCTV systems: Exacq, Milestone Systems, Axis, Bosch, Sony, Vivotek, Hikvision
o Access Control & Security Systems: S2 Security, Honeywell, AMAG, HID, Door Locking mechanisms, AiPhone doorking, etc.
o Intrusion Systems: Honeywell Vista, or DSC experience
o Wireless, Paging Systems, & Master Clocks: Bogen, Valcom, Class Connection
o Structured Fiber Optic, Copper & Coax, Cabling
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Hold and retain certification in at least two VMS systems
โ€ข Hold and retain certification in at least one access control system
โ€ข Have attended training for at least one camera manufacturer and received certificate
โ€ข Hold and retain the OSHA-10 certificate
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
โ€ข Demonstrated proficiency in low voltage principles (ohm's law, load calculations, metering, etc.)
โ€ข Ability to effectively communicate with customer IT and Facilities staff
โ€ข Ability to effectively coordinate with other trades
โ€ข Demonstrated proficiency in the installation, termination and configuration of IP camera technology, controller hardware, power supplies, door hardware and
โ€ข credential technologies
โ€ข Competency in the principles and concepts of physical security systems and demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge in the field
Physical Demands
This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment
This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
