Job Description

Quadratic 3D is seeking a senior product test engineer to characterize 3D printed parts as well as support the development of photopolymer chemistries for 3D printers in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary startup environment.  The successful candidate will be passionate about advanced materials development and enjoy creating and developing early-stage testing methods and infrastructure with members of a highly cross-functional team of engineers and chemists.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive 3D printed material characterization efforts
  • Work with chemists, optical and mechanical engineers to develop first generation 3D printing materials optimize printing performance
  • Design and build a material characterization lab including optical and mechanical measurement systems
  • Establish material testing protocols, database and reporting methods
  • Automate test data collection, processing and reporting
  • Apply data analysis and statistical methods to improve results
  • Manage multiple material testing work flows
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S requirements and promote safety in the work environment.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS/PhD in Physical Sciences or Engineering
  • 3+ years hands-on material development and characterization experience in the 3D printing industry
  • Has built material or product test labs from scratch
  • Knowledge of optical benchtop assemblies
  • Programming (Python, Matlab, Labview) and database experience
  • Experience in statistical analysis using JMP, MATLAB or similar programs
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of team
  • Great documentation, experimental design and result recording skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience characterizing photopolymer materials and/or 3D printing materials
  • Experience with 3D printing, excitonics and/or quantum dots is preferred.
  • Experience in failure analysis methods
