Job description

Atlas and Dog Walking D.C. (DWDC) are hiring for a Dog Walker in the Washington D.C. area. The Dog Walker will walk dogs for multiple clients and follow agreed-upon routes and schedules.

Responsibilities for the Dog Walker: 

  • Enter the clients’ home, harness/leash the dog(s), and begin walk (start time)

  • Safely and responsibly walk the dog(s) for specified amount of time (either 30 or 60 minutes)

  • Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences

  • If needed, ensure that the dog(s) has ample water supply upon the end of the walk and, if required by client, crate the dog(s)

  • Practice proper time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits

  • Communicate with clients and supervisor as needed

Requirements for the Dog Walker:

  • Ability to work Monday - Friday from approximately 10:30am - 4pm (weekends and holidays are optional)

  • Must have own reliable form of transportation (either car or bicycle)

  • Uphold an honest, patient, positive, and professional demeanor when entering clients homes, walking the dog(s), and communicating with clients or staff

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be comfortable working and interacting with both small and large dogs or cats and continuously show compassion

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

  • Must have a reliable smartphone in order to utilize the Atlas/DWDC app for the dog walks

Compensation for the Dog Walker:

  • Calculated on a per-walk/per-dog basis
