ERG is seekingaSenior Engineer with energetics processingexperience to support energetics and chemical manufacturing processes, including evaluating safe processes, equipment, and facility design;ย formulating risk mitigation strategies;ย providing technical expertise in new process startup activities;ย evaluating standard operating procedures (SOPs);ย performing malfunction and incident investigations;ย and interacting with technical customers to provide process engineering and safety expertise.ย Experience managing projects,ย facilitatingย meetings,ย investigatingย incidents, andย facilitatingย hazard analysesย isย required.

This is a fulltime onsite position at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, MD, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. ย ย 
Job Description:
  • Provideย technical evaluations on a variety of process engineering, process safety, and hazard analysis projects associated with energetics research, development, and manufacturing operations
  • Planย and executeย Preliminaryย Hazardย Analysesย (PHAs),ย Processย Hazardย Analyses (PrHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs),ย Layerย ofย Protectionย Analyses (LOPAs),ย Failureย Mode andย Effectย Analyses (FMEAs),ย Systemย Hazardย Analyses (SHAs), Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRAs), and Operating and Support Hazards Analyses (O&SHAs),ย and other hazard analysis and risk assessment techniques
  • Applyย root cause analysisย and fault tree analysisย techniques inย executingย malfunction and failure analyses and incident investigations
  • Developย safety, environmental, engineering, and quality documentation for process startup and restart efforts.ย 
  • Prepareย and reviewย SOPs forย energeticsย processing operations
  • Performย process design tasks, such as reviewing new or as-built drawings, equipment, and/or process specifications and reviewing engineering calculations that support equipment configuration and process condition determinations
  • Provideย other on-site support as needed, including participating in various technical meetings;ย drafting meeting minutes;ย performing reviews of technical information, calculations, and previously completed analyses;ย and performing plant inspectionsย orย audits
  • Provideย mentorship and technical guidance to mid- and junior-level engineers supporting task execution
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fieldย 
  • At least 20 years of relevant experienceย 
  • Strong technical background in process engineering, process safety, and hazard analysisย 
  • Expertiseย in energetic manufacturing processes is strongly desiredย 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholdersย 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skillsย 
  • Experience leading andย facilitatingย teams to perform engineering and safety reviews with various stakeholders, including engineers, operators, and safety and quality representativesย 
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearanceย ย 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizationsย

  • Vertical and horizontal mixing of energetic compounds
