Weekday Experimental Research information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Experimental Researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Experimental Researcher, you need a strong background in scientific methodology, data analysis, and subject-matter expertise, typically supported by at least a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field. Proficiency with statistical software (like SPSS or R), laboratory equipment, and research management systems is often required. Critical thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for designing experiments and presenting findings. These skills ensure accurate, reliable research outcomes and facilitate collaboration and innovation in experimental settings.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in Weekday Experimental Research roles?

Professionals in Weekday Experimental Research often encounter challenges such as balancing tight deadlines with the need for meticulous data collection and analysis. Coordinating with cross-functional teams—like data analysts, lab technicians, and project managers—can require strong communication and adaptability, especially when experiments need to be adjusted based on preliminary results. Additionally, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and lab safety protocols is critical. It's important to stay organized and proactive to manage multiple experiments running concurrently during the workweek.

What is a Weekday Experimental Researcher?

A Weekday Experimental Researcher is a professional who designs, conducts, and analyzes experiments typically during regular business days (Monday through Friday). Their work often involves planning experiments, collecting and interpreting data, and reporting findings to advance knowledge in a specific scientific or technical field. These researchers may work in academic, industrial, or government settings, and their schedules align with standard weekday work hours. The 'experimental' aspect refers to their focus on hands-on, practical investigations to test hypotheses or develop new products, processes, or technologies.

What is the difference between Weekday Experimental Research vs Laboratory Technician?

SystImmune has multiple assets in various stages of clinical trials for solid tumor and hematologic indications. Alongside ongoing clinical trials. SystImmune has a robust preclinical pipeline of potential cancer therapeutics in the discover and IND-enabling stages, representing cutting-edge biologics development. We offer an opportunity for you to learn and grow while making significant contributions to the company's success.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist to support the development, optimization, and validation of immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays. This role will contribute to biomarker development programs supporting clinical trials and may take on increasing ownership of assay optimization and troubleshooting activities.

The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of hands-on industry experience in histology, IHC, or a regulated laboratory environment (e.g., CLIA/CAP, GLP), with demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot assays and analyze experimental data. This is a bench-focused role requiring close collaboration with scientists, pathologists, and cross-functional teams.

This role primarily follows a standard weekday schedule; however, flexibility is required. The candidate should be willing to work shift hours (e.g., 3:00–11:00 PM) and weekends as needed, with adjusted days off during the week (e.g., Tuesday or Wednesday).

Histology

  • Perform tissue sectioning of FFPE blocks.

  • Route and support H&E staining workflows.

IHC Assay Execution & Development

  • Perform routine IHC staining on FFPE tissue specimens using automated platforms (e.g., Ventana, Leica).

  • Conduct antibody titration, protocol optimization, and quality control assessments.

  • Independently troubleshoot assay performance issues, including staining variability, background, and signal optimization.

  • Support and/or lead feasibility, optimization, and analytical validation studies.

  • Experience with multiplex IHC is preferred.
