POSITION PURPOSE
With guidance from the Pastor, the Leader of Lifelong Faith Formation is responsible for designing and executing a sacramental and ongoing formation program for children, youth and their parents, adults, centered on Christ in the Holy Eucharist and a sacramental Christian life. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Designs a catechetical formation program for children, youth and parents, and adults that:
o Bridges the gaps between faith formation lessons and consistent/lifelong sacramental participation and prayer: Sunday Holy Eucharist, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Adoration, Scripture reading.
o Communicates theological truths at an age-appropriate level (from children to adults).
o Invites, recruits and equips volunteers to become catechists, helpers.
o Discerns with youth/parents, experienced leaders in other parishes to develop opportunities of fellowship and prayer for post-confirmation High School students.
o Implements fundamental principles of the new Directory for Catechesis (2020), Archdiocesan guidelines, and adjust according to parish reality and needs of our towns (Middlebury and Southbury).
SECONDARY DUTIES
• Leads, manages and collaborates with members of the Faith Formation team (and volunteers).
• Evaluates the religious program efforts at all levels, receiving feedback from appropriate groups.
• Obtains resources (audio visual, textbooks, technology) to complement the lifelong religious formation efforts of the parish.
• Coordinates the use of space for formation efforts with the office.
• Pursues further education and professional development.
SCHEDULE
A regular 5-weekday work schedule, with consistent weekend work expected. Open to discussion around designating a weekday as an alternate day off. Must be available for occasional travel as needed, using all modes of transportation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications:
1. Love of God, His Church and Parish Mission: The Leader of Lifelong Faith Formation is expected to be an active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community who joyfully lives out the Gospel and leads people to a relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. Collaborative humility: Demonstrates respect for teammates, openly evaluates ideas, feedback, and acknowledges mistakes and prioritizes the collective success of the Church's mission over personal recognition.
3. Proactive drive: Shows a passionate commitment to lead others to Christ and the parish's goals, continuously raising the bar for him/herself and teammates.
4. Interpersonal insight: Possesses strong emotional and relational intelligence, enabling him/herself to navigate group dynamics and emerging conflicts effectively.
Education:
We value experience and proven skills effectively building a Catholic parish committed to Our Lord and His mission with willingness to pursue further education in catechetical instruction if needed. BA or MA in Theology/Religious Education or related disciplines is a plus.
Specialized training in:
Leader of Lifelong Faith Formation is expected to have capabilities in:
o Theology
o Catechetical Program Development
o Coordination of Catechist Development
o Communication and Relationship
o Administration
o Proficient at operating a computer (Word, Excel, Power Point, equivalent).
