Job Summary:
Weedmaps is a global leader in the cannabis industry, dedicated to transparency, education, and community. The Group Product Manager will lead a team to oversee the Core Marketplace, focusing on innovation in user experience and balancing monetization with consumer needs.
Responsibilities:
• Own the Marketplace Roadmap: Lead the strategic vision and execution for the Core Marketplace pillar, specifically driving innovation in Search, Discovery, Product Recommendations, and overall Site UX.
• Balance the Ecosystem: Masterfully manage the critical trade-offs between monetization (Ad Units) and consumer experience, ensuring revenue goals are met without compromising user retention or journey fluidity.
• Scale the Team: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of Product Managers, establishing high standards for product specs, data rigor, and career development.
• Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner deeply with Engineering, Design, and Data Science leadership to ensure technical feasibility, design excellence, and algorithmic accuracy.
• Translate Strategy to Revenue: Work closely with Sales and Marketing to define business cases and go-to-market strategies that turn marketplace capabilities into tangible business results.
• Obsess Over the User & Industry: Maintain a deep understanding of the cannabis consumer and the competitive landscape to stay ahead of mobile commerce and e-commerce trends.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize quantitative research, UI/UX studies, and marketplace analytics to identify growth opportunities and refine the 'find-to-order' conversion funnel.
• Rigorous Communication: Ensure all product initiatives have a clear 'why' by overseeing the documentation of thorough PRDs, business rationales, and success metrics.
• Build & Retain Talent: Lead the recruitment and onboarding of high-performing Product Managers; develop a talent pipeline that supports the future growth of the pillar.
• Performance Excellence: Establish and leverage clear KPIs to measure team impact; provide consistent, actionable feedback and comprehensive performance reviews.
• Cultivate a 'Product First' Culture: Champion a culture of continuous learning and accountability; proactively identify and remove organizational roadblocks.
• Technical & Tooling Mastery: Ensure all direct reports are highly proficient in our product stack – including self-service analytics, feature rollout/experimentation, and agile project management.
• Matrix Leadership: Teach and model effective stakeholder management, helping your PMs navigate complex relationships with Engineering, Sales, and Design in a matrixed environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of product management experience with a focus on high-traffic marketplaces; including 2+ years of direct people management.
• Deep experience in at least two of the following: E-commerce, AdTech/Monetization, or Search/Discovery platforms.
• Demonstrated success working closely with Engineering and Data Science teams to build alignment on complex technical roadmaps.
• Experience developing and refining sophisticated KPIs to measure team performance, product health, and business impact.
Preferred:
• A track record of successfully balancing monetization (Ad units) with high-quality consumer experiences (Discovery/UX).
• A natural curiosity for the Cannabis economy and its unique regulatory and UX challenges.
• Exceptional ability to translate customer pain points into elegant product solutions that drive both user delight and revenue.
• Persuasive written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex marketplace dynamics into clear narratives for executive stakeholders.
