Websphere Administrator
Location: Richmond, Virginia (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned WebSphere Administrator to provide middleware system administration support for critical applications. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of IBM WebSphere components and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions. This role involves collaboration with development, operations, and security teams to enhance system scalability and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide middleware IBM WebSphere System Administration support.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to identify automation opportunities.
  • Document automation processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Share knowledge and assist with the development of in-house expertise.
  • Mentor team members and conduct code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in automated systems.
  • Continuously improve existing automation frameworks for scalability and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
  • Experienced WebSphere Administrator with strong UNIX and scripting skills (Shell Scripts, Python/Jython).
  • Advanced knowledge of HTTP, Application Server, Java, and Plugin components (version 8.5.5 and 9 ND edition).
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, installations, failover, disaster recovery, security configuration, LTM, junctions, and certificate management.
  • Skilled in performance tuning for WebSphere and using automation tools such as XL/Deploy.
  • Familiarity with MQ, File Transfer, and Database (Oracle/SQL) connectivity to WebSphere.
  • Good communication and collaborative skills for dealing with customers and technical partners.
  • Familiarity with the change management process.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with WebSphere Liberty and WebSphere MORE is a plus.
  • Ansible automation and CI/CD-GitLab experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Terraform is a plus.
