The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing multiple maintenance shop operations, ensuring efficient performance, financial accountability, and high-quality service delivery. This role manages shop personnel, equipment, vendor relationships, and customer interactions while driving operational excellence and technician development.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of three maintenance shop locations
  • Provide leadership and support to Shop Managers and technicians
  • Fill in for Shop Managers during vacations or absences to ensure continuity
  • Coordinate vacation coverage planning across all shop locations
  • Audit, review, and close work orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Manage and maintain profit and loss (P&L) statements for all shop operations
  • Oversee timesheet approvals and employee time-off requests
  • Develop equipment needs projections and budget planning
  • Facilitate the sale of surplus or retired equipment
  • Interview, hire, and onboard qualified mechanics and technicians
  • Administer disciplinary actions and terminations as needed
  • Support Shop Managers in performance management and employee relations
  • Develop and implement technician training programs
  • Plan and coordinate ongoing education and skill development
  • Identify gaps in technical skills and ensure training aligns with operational needs
  • Purchase and manage shop tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure all locations are properly equipped to operate efficiently
  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle management of tools and assets
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers
  • Ensure quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of outsourced services

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in maintenance or fleet management, preferably across multiple locations
  • Strong understanding of financial management, including P&L oversight
  • Experience managing teams, including hiring, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance, shop operations, and safety practices
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and locations effectively
