Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday
Hours: 7:30 am - 11:30 am (4 hours/day)
Grades: K-12

Position Summary:

Albert Lea Area Schools is seeking dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teachers to provide Extended School Year (ESY) services for students with disabilities. ESY services are designed to support students in maintaining critical skills and preventing regression in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). These positions are for ECSE, Elementary and Secondary. Please indicate which level you are interested in when applying.

The ESY Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction, implement IEP goals, and collaborate with related service providers and support staff to ensure continuity of learning in a structured summer environment.

Position Information:

  • Deliver specially designed instruction aligned to students' IEP goals and objectives
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals during ESY
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and ESY staff
  • Implement behavior supports, accommodations, and modifications as outlined in student IEPs
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Communicate with ESY team members and administration regarding student needs and progress
  • Participate in required ESY orientation and planning

Qualifications Required:

  • Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching license or ability to obtain
  • Experience working with students with disabilities across a range of needs (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices

Additional Information:

  • ESY programming will serve students across a variety of disability areas and settings
  • Staffing assignments (grade level/program) will be determined based on student needs and enrollment.
