Job description

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Technology-Human Resources and Student Services REPORTS TO: Chief of Human Resources and Student Services BEGINNING DATE: Open Until Filled

NATURE OF WORK:Β 


The Assistant Director of Technology supports the Chief of Human Resources and Student Services in planning, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of technology systems and services that promote effective and efficient operations within the Human Resources and Student Services department. The position serves as the primary administrator for assigned software systems, provides technical support and training to users, coordinates technology initiatives, and assists with the modernization of departmental processes and services.Β 



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Β 

  • System administrator experience maintaining file servers.
  • Ability to perform security and risk management tasks, including user account maintenance, object authorizations and access rights assignment, and system backups.
  • Proficiency with or aptitude to learn a variety of related software systems including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Human Resource Management System, and the North Carolina Educator Evaluation System, and Frontline Applicant Tracking and Aesop.
  • Ability to install hardware and software and perform basic hardware maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to evaluate future technology solutions for potential implementation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software programs and hardware compatibility.
  • Ability to create professional flyers, documents, and advertisements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships with employees, school personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • BA or MA degree in related area and two years related experience or five years of related experience

FLSA STATUS:Β Exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans for a comprehensive support structure for Human Resources and Student Services technology functions.
  2. Prepare and submit accurate reports as required.
  3. Improve or enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, operations and processes in the system.
  4. Serve as the NCEES District Administrator.
  5. Serve on the Human Resources and Student Services Leadership Team.
  6. Maintain and update website content for the Human Resources and Student Services Department.
  7. Develop, maintain, and distribute departmental documents and publications, including professional development materials and new employee handbooks.
  8. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate professional development, workshops, presentations, and informational sessions for school and central office personnel on Human Resources and Student Services programs, processes and related topics.
  9. Coordinate system-level resources working cooperatively and collaboratively with the Information Technology Department and the Finance Department.
  10. Provide support and assistance to system users of OCS hardware and software systems.
  11. Develop and maintain recruitment and communication materials, including website content, digital publications, and employment advertising campaigns.
  12. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, planning, upgrades, and troubleshooting on technology hardware for the Human Resources and Student Services Department.
  13. Design, recommend, and install modifications to computer equipment.
  14. Monitor and coordinate downloads and uploads of data and software updates with the NC Department of Public Instruction and other pertinent users.
  15. Assist with evaluating, selecting, and implementing software solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  16. Serve as superuser for variety of software systems including Frontline Technologies, HRMS, as well as future software solutions.
  17. Assist with supporting cellular technology communications for the Human Resources and Student Services Department.
  18. Evaluate existing hardware and software and make recommendations for modernization of technology.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, walking.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
  • Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, students, parents, and members of the public through a variety of methods, including verbal, written, and electronic communication.
