Job description

Service Technicians are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, suppression systems, and emergency exit lights. Duties include, but are not limited to, recharging, hydrostatic testing, and system repairs. This role involves daily customer interaction; therefore, the ideal candidate is outgoing, self-motivated, computer literate, and possesses strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a professional appearance.

Job Description:

  • Provide assistance with customer walk-in service in a professional and courteous manner 
  • Perform monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections and testing of fire extinguishers, kitchen hood suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and emergency lighting 
  • Conduct hydrostatic testing of high- and low-pressure cylinders 
  • Dismantle fire extinguishers and inspect tubing, horns, gaskets, cutter discs, and related components; replace worn or defective parts as needed 
  • Install, repair, and maintain fire extinguisher cabinets and mounting brackets 
  • Complete electronic and handwritten inspection reports, accurately documenting time worked and all required paperwork in a timely manner 
  • Travel locally to customer sites to perform inspections, repairs, installations, and maintenance 
  • Ensure job quality and customer satisfaction at all stages of service 
  • Monitor inventory levels and submit requests for supplies, materials, and equipment 
  • Assist with shipping and receiving of materials and equipment 
  • Maintain company-provided vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper upkeep and safety 
  • Work independently while properly using provided personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Adhere to all prescribed safety standards and company policies 
  • Assist with scheduling and timely completion of assigned duties 
  • Complete all required, mandatory, and recommended training programs 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to safely use small hand tools 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills 
  • Strong customer service and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions 
  • Aptitude for inspection, repair, and general maintenance tasks 
  • Friendly, personable, and professional demeanor 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn 
  • Dependable, responsible, and reliable 
  • Honest, hardworking, and team-oriented 
  • Willingness to successfully pass a drug test and background check 

Experience considered a plus:

  • Experience inspecting or testing fire safety equipment and systems 
  • High-pressure hydrostatic testing certification 
  • Experience installing, servicing, or testing fire suppression systems 
  • Experience installing, servicing, or testing fire alarms 
  • Forklift operation experience or certification 
  • Certifications PTL, Fire Alarms, Suppression Systems or equivalent
