Job description

Who We Are

Stored Energy Systems (SENS) is an award‑winning manufacturer of premium quality power conversion products located in Longmont, CO. In business for over 50 years, SENS is the market leader with a proven track record of providing highly reliable battery chargers, DC power systems, and related products to industrial markets. For more information on our company please see our web site at www.sens-usa.com.

Summary

The VP, Strategy & Product Enablement, is responsible for establishing and enabling Stored Energy Systems strategic planning and product portfolio discipline as the business scales. Reporting to the CFO and sponsored by the CEO, this role acts as a cross‑functional integrator and force multiplier—bringing rigor, clarity, and economic discipline to profitable growth, product investment, and capital allocation decisions. The role ensures leadership has a credible fact base, clear trade‑offs, and repeatable processes to guide long‑term value creation. This position is designed for a senior individual contributor with strong enterprise influence, not a functional manager or PMO.

Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Strategic Planning
  • Support development and maintenance of the company’s 3–5 year strategic plan
  • Establish and manage a repeatable annual strategic planning cadence, distinct from budgeting
  • Translate strategy into enterprise priorities and initiatives
  • Facilitate executive alignment on strategic choices, sequencing, and constraints
  • Partner with CEO, CFO and the rest of ELT as needed to prepare board‑ and PE‑ready strategic materials
  • Product Portfolio & Lifecycle Enablement
  • Establish and institutionalize an enterprise product portfolio framework
  • Define and embed product lifecycle stages (introduce, grow, optimize, harvest, exit)
  • Enable clear product ownership and decision accountability across product families
  • Introduce economic decision criteria (revenue, margin, complexity, capital intensity) based on outside‑in perspectives (examples: total addressable markets, market segmentations, competitive landscape, etc.)
  • Support portfolio rationalization and targeted investment decisions
  • Capital & Resource Allocation Support
  • Partner with Finance to align strategy and product decisions with capital allocation discipline
  • Support prioritization of major growth initiatives
  • Define success metrics and kill criteria for strategic investments
  • Ensure resource deployment aligns with enterprise priorities and return thresholds
  • Cross‑Functional Enablement
  • Act as a trusted partner to Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Finance leaders
  • Facilitate structured decision‑making without adding bureaucracy
  • Introduce common frameworks and language for strategy and product discussions
  • Improve decision quality across the enterprise through clarity and focus
  • Capability Building & Scale
  • Build durable planning and portfolio processes that transition to functional ownership
  • Identify future strategy and product management capability needs
  • Support onboarding of additional resources as the company scales
  • Ensure long‑term sustainability without dependency on the role
Required Qualifications
  • 12–18+ years in strategy, portfolio, product, or general management
  • Demonstrated experience building strategy, product, or portfolio processes in scaling organizations
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering growth and winning market share
  • Enterprise‑level strategic thinking grounded in economic reality
  • Strong financial fluency (P&L, margins, capital trade‑offs)
  • Solid understanding in setting product definitions of IT systems, such as ERP, CRM, etc.
  • Ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear, executive‑level recommendations
  • Credible partner to senior executives; able to influence without authority
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and executive‑level writing skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineered products and systems, or capital‑intensive environments strongly preferred.
  • Prior exposure to PE‑backed or board‑governed environments preferred or successes with Board / Enterprise approved substantial / transformational product investments.
Location

The preferred location is on‑site in Longmont, CO. Remote employees may be considered.

Base Compensation

$200,000 to $250,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.

Closing Date

April 4, 2026. While we expect to keep the position open through this date, the posting may be extended or closed early based on applicant volume and hiring needs.
