Role Overview
Sr Web Software Engineers at Cboe are tasked with designing and implementing applications, user interfaces and components that are critical to maintaining operational and customer readiness. This requires careful attention to detail, knowledge of algorithms and data structures, and ability to design testable and scalable systems. Cboe web services are running 24x7, and web engineers are responsible for ensuring uptime and resilience for our internal customers, our external customers, and the investing public.
We build websites that handle millions of requests per day, presenting high-quality market data to our members and the investing public. We operate at the tip of the spear, maintaining the primary interface for command and control of Cboe markets worldwide. We are aggressive, yet agile. We care about user experience. Your responsibilities will be:
  • Design, implement, extend, and maintain functionality for our applications and systems.
  • Provide input into project scheduling and participate in projects where needed.
  • Refactor and enhance functionality within the underlying frameworks used by the system.
  • Assist with project schedules to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate has:
  • Proven expertise with MVC web frameworks (Django strongly preferred), including architectural decision-making and mentoring junior engineers
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, with demonstrated ability to lead front-end development initiatives
  • Expert-level knowledge of Python or extensive experience in another programming language with a strong capability and motivation to master Python
  • Experience architecting scalable and resilient systems, ensuring uptime for mission-critical web services
  • Strong background in code quality, testing, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) best practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of collaborating across teams and contributing to a positive engineering culture
  • Minimum Years of Work Experience: 5+ years
  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)
At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market-informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $114,750-$148,500, with actual compensation determined by job-related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.
This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
