2026-2027 Graduate Assistant (Part Time)- University Relations

Duties and Responsibilities:

Content research and development: Writing short news stories and/or press releases related to university-wide events
Social media content creation: Gather copy, photos, and/or videos for the University social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and X)
Create and update media lists: Assist the media relations team in maintaining lists of reporters, publishers, editors and influencers
Web content management: maintain the university website by managing/editing content; delegate/approve web content edits amongst student assistants

Other tasks include:
Media support at conferences and events
Occasional photo research and video distribution
Attending on and off-campus events as needed


Required Qualifications:

Computer Skills: Candidate should have experience with technology
Attention to detail and writing skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Relationship-building skills
Organization and project management
Understanding or ability to quickly learn the AP Stylebook and University Style Guide
Ability to interface with faculty, students, administrators, and alumni to interview and write stories

Desired Qualifications:

Added plus if fluency in media technology and media databases such as Cision and MERIT
Added plus if can aid in producing and distribution of media clip reports
