Job description

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager I with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Provide overall direction and leadership on a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) dominant project or for MEP scopes of work on medium to large projects to include the management of project quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring the project team. Develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage the overall financial health of projects 

  • Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections 

  • Determine and allocate project estimates into the financial system 

  • Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions 

  • Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment 

  • Create monthly owner billings 

  • Manage subcontracts and suppliers for the project 

  • Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers 

  • Handle billings and contract management, including contract buyouts 

  • Oversee the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts prior to installation 

  • Direct and manage the commissioning process, including the startup plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing 

  • Lead all activities required in project closeout, including operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, and training 

  • Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) 

  • Provide job assignments and manage career development 

  • Approve timecards for on-site team members 

  • Provide ongoing feedback on work performance 

  • Function as the main point of contact with the owner and on-site representative 

  • Assist with the review of the owner agreement 

  • Resolve site concerns for the owner or representative 

  • Provide frequent interactions and service to build positive relationships and future work opportunities 

  • Manage change orders, determine when to submit to the owner or on-site representatives, and obtain customer/architect's approval 

  • Maintain schedule and budget until project completion 

  • Provide high-level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and team members 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience  

  • Proven ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for complex projects  

  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks  

  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices  

  • Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level  

  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills  

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies  

  • Minimum six years construction management experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor  

  • Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $113,500 - $170,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
