Title: Production Designer 
Reports To:  E-Learning Manager 
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Los Angeles (Little Tokyo Office)
Hours of Operation: 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer LifeCraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

Role Overview:
The L&D Media Production Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing our organization's learning and development initiatives by capturing video and photography content directly in the field at Woodcraft Ranger program sites, and by concepting, designing, and producing a wide variety of visual elements, including, but not limited to photography, video, and interactive media, to support our digital learning development process. This role requires regular travel to program sites throughout Southern California to shoot footage and images in real classroom and community settings, while learning and working within the access, scheduling, and privacy limitations set by our site partners. This involves researching and implementing best practices in the design and creation of both physical and digital content to support training across diverse topics such as social and emotional learning (SEL), behavior management, and leadership, as well as a wide array of content areas including STEM and the arts. Working collaboratively with the Learning and Development team and on-site staff, the Media Production Specialist manages media projects from planning and shoot logistics through editing and final delivery, contributing to the creation of comprehensive design materials and elements for scalable learning solutions. This position is designed for those committed to fostering an environment of continuous improvement and excellence in youth development practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Content: Capture visual media – video and photography – at Woodcraft Ranger sites and events throughout Southern California for various mediums, including digital, web, and print.
  • Design: Create, edit, and produce visual concepts, layouts, and media for various mediums, including digital, web, and print.
  • Collaboration: Work with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and other team members to understand design requirements and needs. 
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize graphic and media design software and tools to create and manipulate media content. 
  • Communication: Present designs to team members and stakeholders, explain design choices, and incorporate feedback. 
  • Problem Solving: Address design challenges and develop creative solutions. 
  • Staying Updated: Keep up to date with the latest design trends, software, and technologies. 
  • Meeting Deadlines: Manage time effectively and meet project deadlines. 
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Videography, Media Design, Digital Media, or closely related fields.
  • Strong visual sense, creativity, and ability to translate ideas into visual concepts. 
  • Demonstrable experience in graphic and video design, with a strong portfolio showcasing digital design, photography, and video content creation.
  • Expertise in using design software like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.) as well as familiarity with other creative tools such as Canva.
  • Adeptness in navigating and utilizing the latest digital platforms, apps, and technologies relevant to digital education and design.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex design concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and design trends in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
  • An understanding of diverse communities and the ability to incorporate cultural considerations into design and technology applications.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in educational technology platforms and virtual learning environments like Microsoft PowerPoint, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with ethnically and culturally diverse communities, along with a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of high-need areas in Los Angeles.
