Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, Information Technology, the AI and Web Solutions Developer designs, develops, and maintains advanced AI-driven applications and web solutions for the dental school's intranet/internet platforms. This role focuses on leveraging machine learning, data analytics, and modern programming frameworks to enhance dental education, research, and clinical operations. The position supports existing infrastructure while driving innovation through emerging technologies.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain and secure intranet/internet websites and web servers; schedule content and design updates; monitor the School of Dentistry's domains. Using dynamic programming, work with the IT team to build and integrate interactive websites, applications, and services for both intranet/internet sites
  • Analyze requests for website changes in the School of Dentistry's applications and database systems; build and maintain dynamic, scalable web applications using modern frameworks and languages (Python, Java, C++, R, JavaScript, React, etc.).
  • Design and implement AI models for EHRs and other applications, including predictive analytics, image recognition, and natural language processing, to enhance patient care and outcomes. Create APIs and automation workflows to connect AI models with clinical and administrative systems.
  • Develop and optimize relational and SQL databases; ensure secure data integration and efficient query performance, support SharePoint Administration and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Research new technology and keep abreast of emerging tools and technologies (e.g., Net, Macromedia, ASP, SQL) to operate highly efficient, dynamic, data-driven, and scalable browser-based user interfaces and web applications.
  • Work closely with faculty, researchers, and IT teams to identify needs and deliver AI-driven solutions; provide training and technical support.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of AI models, algorithms, and system architecture; ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean, Information Technology.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
  • Web content management systems. Developing websites using ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft IIS.
  • AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Programming languages: Python, Java, C++, R.
  • Database systems: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
  • Visual Basic or other programming tools.

Experience:
  • Minimum two years of experience in AI/ML development and web application programming, and expertise in web design and optimization.
    • Some programming (Visual Basic, etc.)
    • Web-based programming.
    • Web design and infrastructure.
    • Multi-media internet tools and technologies.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

Working Conditions:
  • Position is full-time, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
  • Occasional assignments on weekends and/or evenings.

Knowledge of:
  • Experience with dental or healthcare applications is preferred.
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles

Hiring Range
$41.00 - 48.94 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
