Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, Koniag is seeking a Cybersecurity Research Analyst with a TS/SCI eligible security clearance to support KITS and our government customer on premises at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA.ย  This position is responsible for investigating, tracking, and evaluating emerging cyber threats, advanced persistent threat (APT) groups, and novel attack vectors. This role analyzes complex technical data, assesses market and technology developments (e.g., AI/ML security, cloud native architecture, zero trust models), and translates raw technical findings into strategic reports, risk models, and actionable mitigation guidance for leadership and client teams. This position supports OUSW Research and Engineering customer at the Mark Center. The selected candidate will lead analytical efforts to develop and apply advanced mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and optimization methods to improve decision-making, policy formulation, and strategic planning within a complex defense environment. The candidate must understand how to operate in a deliberate manner in support of the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW).

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement advanced mathematical and statistical models to analyze operational, financial, and technical data.
  • Conduct deep-dive research into emerging threats, vulnerabilities (CVEs), exploitation techniques, and APT campaign Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) aligned with the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Track cyber adversary behaviors across clear, deep, and dark web sources, security telemetry, and OSINT channels.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative insights to support high-level decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Author detailed, high-quality research papers, whitepapers, threat advisories, and executive briefings translating complex cyber risks into clear strategic business impact.
  • Evaluate and optimize resource allocation, process efficiency, and system performance.
  • Lead analytical teams in developing data-driven recommendations that improve mission outcomes.
  • Translate analytical results into actionable guidance for senior leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Support the development and management of budgets, cost models, and performance metrics.
  • Integrate operations research techniques into organizational processes to enhance readiness and efficiency.
  • Perform technical writing/editing, proofreading, or overall documentation review for various program document, and user support documents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in threat intelligence, security research, vulnerability management, or strategic cyber advisory.
  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS), operating systems (Linux, Windows), and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience in federal IT environments, DoD Impact Levels (IL4/IL5/IL6/IL7), or FedRAMP authorization environments.
  • Gather and develop requirements for assigned projects based on stakeholder input.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, a high level of integrity, critical thinking, and leadership courage.ย 
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities.
