Web Engineer Intern information

What does a web engineer intern do?

A Web Engineer Intern assists in designing, developing, and maintaining websites or web applications under the guidance of experienced engineers. Their responsibilities often include writing code, testing features, fixing bugs, and collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality web solutions. Interns gain hands-on experience with front-end and back-end technologies, learn industry best practices, and may work with tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various frameworks. This internship provides valuable exposure to real-world projects and helps interns build skills required for a career in web development.

What types of projects and technologies can I expect to work with as a web engineer intern?

As a Web Engineer Intern, you will typically work on projects involving front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular, as well as back-end APIs built with technologies such as Node.js or Python. Interns often collaborate with designers, senior engineers, and product managers, contributing to real-world products and features. The work environment is usually fast-paced, offering opportunities to learn version control with Git, participate in code reviews, and gain exposure to agile development practices. This hands-on experience helps build both technical and teamwork skills crucial for a future career in web engineering.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a web engineer intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Web Engineer Intern, you need a foundational understanding of web development principles, programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and coursework or projects related to computer science. Familiarity with development tools such as Git, popular frameworks (e.g., React or Angular), and basic version control systems is typically expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective communication skills help interns collaborate and adapt in team environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for successfully supporting web projects and gaining practical experience in a fast-evolving field.

What is the difference between Web Engineer Intern vs Web Developer Intern?

AspectWeb Engineer InternWeb Developer Intern
Required CredentialsBasic coding skills, coursework in computer science or related fieldSimilar credentials, often with focus on front-end or back-end development
Work EnvironmentTech companies, startups, agencies; involved in both front-end and back-end tasksPrimarily front-end or back-end development teams, depending on specialization
Industry UsageCommonly used in tech and software companiesWidely used in web development projects across industries
Comparison IntentUnderstanding broader engineering roles in web projectsFocus on specific development tasks

Web Engineer Interns typically have a broader scope, involving both front-end and back-end engineering tasks, while Web Developer Interns often focus on specific development areas like UI or server-side coding. Both roles require similar foundational skills and are used in similar environments, but the Web Engineer Intern role emphasizes a more comprehensive understanding of web systems.

Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

YE-Physical Failure Analysis Engineering Intern-Summer 2026

As a Technology Development Yield Enhancement (YE) Engineering Intern at Micron Technology, you will be exposed to the field of Physical Failure Analysis (PFA). The goal of this internship is to gain experience in all facets of the type of work that is done in YE and to accelerate the cycles of learning in Micron's state of the art Fabs. We need engineers who enjoy problem solving and are willing to seek out innovative ways to confirm physical failures and improve yield. Are you up for the challenge?

We will assign you a project to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The work you're doing will influence and improve how we are able to do failure analysis. At the end of the period, we want you to have a deep understanding of the processes, device operation, and problem-solving strategies used in today's semiconductor yield department. We will enable this with groundbreaking techniques, using next generation equipment, and have the chance to create a difference, today!

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate understanding of electrical testing and physical failure analysis on DRAM, NAND, or Emerging memory devices.

  • Delayering failing devices using a variety of wet and dry techniques.

  • Focused Ion Beam and STEM/TEM usage for cross section analysis and SEM operation for top-down analysis.

  • Generate slice and view images for inline process improvement feedback.

  • Recognize, identify, and raise awareness of new failure mechanisms with the motivation of "who needs to know this now!"

  • AI proficiency or AIenabled (Using AI, Applying AI, Leveraging AI) ways of working where applicable within YE.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • First year to Junior level course work for a 4-year program or graduating level class work by spring semester 2027
  • Majoring in one of the following bachelor's degrees: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • An understanding of working in a laboratory with good analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interests in applying PFA to software development.

  • Basic understanding of computer program architecture and coding.

  • Proactive and passionate about learning (training and coursework).

  • Highly motivated, with a strong work ethic, and can work independently.

As a world leader in the semiconductor industry, Micron is dedicated to your personal wellbeing and professional growth. Micron benefits are designed to help you stay well, provide peace of mind and help you prepare for the future. We offer a choice of medical, dental and vision plans in all locations enabling team members to select the plans that best meet their family healthcare needs and budget. Micron also provides benefit programs that help protect your income if you are unable to work due to illness or injury, and paid family leave. Additionally, Micron benefits include a robust paid time-off program and paid holidays.
