Job description

Job Overview:

The Web Development team creates the scripting language behind B&H’s web applications and ensures their compatibility with internal back-end servers, firewall, and software systems. Any changes or modifications are drafted in conjunction with relevant parties to plan and determine code capabilities for purposed design change as well as establish the code’s functionality with the existing e-commerce web technology systems.

The Web Developer Team Lead creates advanced to highly complex code structures using Java technologies and SQL Query languages. Possessing an expert knowledge of multiple web programming languages and object oriented design, the incumbent will understand how to create and manipulate the architectural framework of code design according to back-end server and software requirements. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for long term projects typically involving 2-6+ months from planning to production and provide direction to the projects integral design encompassing long-term improvement expectations.

Assignments given will be of high business importance and require stringent completion. Typically, assignments will involve and require development manipulation across multiple internal web systems. Tests will be conducted in different stages to ensure the appropriate operation of code for launch in production stage.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Programs and creates code for website using Java technologies and SQL Query languages
  • Receive advanced and high complex web development requests and track document progress into Jira
  • Establish project requirements based on individual need for accurate and efficient project resolution
  • Establish development framework for accurate back-end server integration
  • Document any changes in project throughout any stages of development life-cycle
  • Implement changes using appropriate code scripts following department protocol standards
  • Monitor code structure at all levels of development and testing to identify need for repair as needed
  • Collaborate with all parties to determine need for code or development changes
  • Coordinate high integration projects with appropriate departments outside of web development
  • Ensure assignment completion in a timely manner

Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • Required 3-5 years writing core Java, JDK, SQL, JSTL, and JSP
  • High utilization of J2EE web technologies or Java Enterprise Software
  • High implementation of Object Oriented design
  • Experience with the UNIX operating system
  • Implementation of UNIX and Perl Shell scripting

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High level understanding of dynamic websites 
  • Knowledge of B&H domain and technical infrastructure
  • Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Java technologies
  • High comprehension of HTML, CSS, and Ajax Java properties
  • Articulate communicator, and professional phone demeanor
  • Resourceful, efficient research skills, detail-oriented, and quick and analytical thinker
  • Knowledge of B&H policies and procedures
