GPD is looking to make Lexington our next hub of design and modeling innovation in Traffic Engineering. Due to our organic growth and stellar reputation in the industry, GPD is excited to add a Senior Traffic Engineer to our Lexington, KY office. GPD Group works directly with the communities we serve for Traffic Control / Maintenance and Protection of Traffic / Highway Lighting and Signal Design Plan Preparation to create the safest mobility experience while keeping innovation at the forefront of our practice solutions. To reduce our carbon footprint, we address congestion by performing traffic signal operations and management for our clients. With this service we create the most efficient roadway systems possible to maximize our clients return on investment!

Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in Traffic Engineering in Kentucky.
  • Extensive experience with Traffic Signal and Traffic Control Design and Plan Preparation.
  • Experience with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic design.
  • Proficient understanding of Safety Studies, Interchange Studies, and Corridor Studies.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of Kentucky with the ability to obtain an Ohio PE within 6 months.
  • Well versed in Kentucky Department of Transportation and Local public agency specifications and contract management.
  • PTOE / PTP / RSP or AICP Certification a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Highway Capacity Software (HCS) and Synchro/SimTraffic.
  • Experience with Transmodeler, AutoCAD and Microstation a plus.
  • Enjoys developing and nurturing strong client and sub consultant relationships in Lexington/Louisville area related to Traffic Engineering.
  • Experience mentoring and empowering engineers newer in their career.
  • Enjoys taking on a leadership role not only as a technical expert in our field but as a servant leader in the community and within the company.
  • Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communications while working with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone).
  • Extensive experience developing and overseeing project scope, schedule, and fees for new projects and additional scope/services requested by clients that yield successful projects for clients and the Company.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: interact with multiple stakeholders and in a wide variety of services that encompass our discipline in the development of traffic design and planning projects, including survey, environmental assessment, geotechnical, roadway and bridge disciplines.
  • Technical oversight: managing the traffic signal and control design process planning, analyzing, and correlating traffic impact studies to recognize discrepancies in results and identifying possible solutions and risk.
  • Technical support: provide technical support to other teams in our organization such as our Education Team or our Retail Team. Project locations can be local to the Pennsylvania market or range coast to coast.
  • Client Engagement and Management: develop and build programs and client relationships to grow this team, understanding clientsโ€™ needs and translating them into specific scope and reporting systems. This role will meet revenue goals and seek opportunities to exceed expectations.
  • Mentoring and development: mentor the Traffic team to advance their success in the industry, including civil engineering and technical training and empowering teammates to grow in their careers.
  • Administrative oversight: using Key Performance Indicators, develop, communicate, and track workflow tasks, scheduling, quality assurance, client standards, and ensure project documents are aligned with plans, scope, and budget.
