Job description

Rupture Disc Operator Trainee, 2nd shift.
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Rupture Disc Operator Trainee, 2nd shift. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.
Job Summary:
Entry role focused on training and assisting operators. Performs routine and manual tasks which includes cleaning machines, punching out parts and forming parts. Emphasis is on learning techniques. Must read minimum training requirements.
This position is 2nd shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:15pm-1:45am
*Training will take place on the first shift (M-F, 7am-3:30pm) for approximately 2-3 months. Once training is complete, the role will transition to the permanent 2nd shift schedule (M-TH, 3:15pm-1:45am).
Compensation: this position starts at $20/hr and is based on the candidate's experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Assists in lifting, moving, clamping and bolting dies and material on machines for formation.
  2. May press out parts using punch presses and hydraulic air presses.
  3. May use shears, nibblers, sanders and soldering equipment.
  4. May use a Scotch Brite or sandpaper to buff part clean and/or wash part in an appropriate solution.
  5. Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
  6. Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO9001.
  7. Must be able to pass the forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

Work Environment:
The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings.
PREFERRED: Mechanical exposure or Vo-Tech training.
