Their Toronto Office delivers leading branding solutions across a range of customer touchpoints and is a leader in the Middle East. ROSS (www.getross.com) has engaged them to search for a Director of Technology.

The Director of Technology is in charge of leading the technology team and ensuring that the company remains on top of current technology trends in regards to the products it delivers and the tools it uses. You will be expected to provide and support the staff with an infrastructure to do their job effectively. A major purpose of the role includes the strategic planning of all tools and web development through the envisioning of rich feature‑sets in each of the Software Platform, Tools, and all web site development.

You Will…
  • Supervise and critique the technology team to deliver innovative solutions with expertise.
  • Be proactive and collaborative in the relationship with the account team.
  • Continually communicate with managers on updates and status.
  • Assist and give input during complicated presentation preparation.
  • Coordinate the project schedule by working closely with the technology team to prioritize the workload and team utilization.
  • Produce strategic roadmap and plans for tools and web development that meet the business goals.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions.
  • Continually analyze and improve the overall development process.
  • Lead software development and manage the entire lifecycle of development.
  • Supervise the IT infrastructure for internal and external solutions.
  • Mentor, coach and train senior and entry‑level software developers and interns.
You Have…
  • Experience leading teams; this role will manage and motivate a team of 8 to 12 individuals.
  • You MUST have experience working for a branding, advertising or marketing firm in a similar role where you led teams to develop multiple concurrent projects for external clients.
  • Will have managed a team responsible for both front and back‑end applications.
  • 8–10 years of related work experience in software development; 3–5 years in IT infrastructure management.
  • Experience with the entire web software development lifecycle for large projects.
  • Hands on experience with the following:
    • Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE) [Java Servlets, JSP, JSF]
    • PHP
    • XML, XSL, DOM, and SAX
    • HTML and DHTML
    • JavaScript
    • CSS 1 and 2
    • Apache 1.3 and 2
    • Tomcat 4 and 5
    • Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server Operating System
    • Full understanding of TCP/IP
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Project Management Software

Travel and Location:

  • Ability to travel internationally about 20% of the time. The Toronto office works very closely with their counterparts in New York and Dubai.
  • This position is located in downtown Toronto.

Salary: 80K to $110K + bonus.
