A Web Developer Government role requires strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web accessibility standards, and relevant government regulations, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (such as Drupal or WordPress), secure coding practices, and federal or state-level compliance certifications (like Section 508 accessibility) is also critical. Job description

Overview
Engineering leaders on the Microsoft Edge Web Platform team build the foundational technologies that shape how hundreds of millions of people experience the web and AI-powered computing. Edge operates at massive scale and extends beyond a traditional browser as a gateway to Microsoft's products and AI ecosystem. This role offers the opportunity to shape a widely used web platform by advancing its performance, capabilities, and user experience.
As a Principal Software Engineering Manager on the Edge Web Platform team, you will lead a team of engineers who own core primitives of the web platform, spanning areas such as networking and navigation, media and storage, rendering and layout, web APIs and JavaScript engine, developer and app platform. You will set technical direction, grow and coach a high-performing team, and deliver interoperable implementations that improve browsing across Microsoft Edge and Chromium.
You will help drive web standards and collaborate with the broader standards community, other browser vendors, and internal partner teams to bring new capabilities to the platform. You will guide your team to design and own platform features with a focus on correctness, performance, compatibility, and security at web scale, from early exploration and prototyping through shipping and long-term ownership.
Success in this role requires depth in browser or runtime systems, solid systems thinking, and the ability to lead both people and projects end to end. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with building an inclusive team and developing the engineers on it.

    • Guide your team's contributions to Chromium in areas that can be shared across Chromium-based browsers.
    • Deliver web platform innovations across key browser engine areas, grounded in customer and developer needs, with a focus on correctness, performance, compatibility, and security at web scale.
    • Partner with product, design, standards bodies, community groups, and partner teams to align the roadmap and land features end to end.
    • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.
