Job description

Requirements

The Web Developer & Digital Marketing Specialist is a hands–on developer who owns the build, performance, and growth of the Commence website. This full–time role pairs web development with website optimization, SEO, and web analytics. The specialist will translate company and customer needs into functional, branded, and search–optimized web experiences. Beyond development, they will own SEO initiatives, manage web analytics, and identify opportunities to improve website performance, user experience, and lead generation.

  • Design, build, and maintain responsive, high–performing web pages and features for the Commence website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js.
  • Own the full web development lifecycle (design, development, testing, and deployment) ensuring quality, performance, and brand consistency across every page.
  • Manage and customize the Commence WordPress website, including CMS administration, PHP-based templating, plugin management, and custom functionality (or a willingness to learn PHP).
  • Integrate and troubleshoot RESTful APIs and third–party tools (forms, tracking, marketing tools), handling asynchronous operations and ensuring optimal performance and data accuracy.
  • Create responsive designs that work seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes, in collaboration with the Sr. Visual Designer.
  • Own and execute SEO initiatives, including keyword research, on–page optimization, technical SEO best practices, and content pathway improvements that increase organic visibility and traffic.
  • Own website analytics, including tracking configuration, traffic and conversion monitoring, and reporting that translates website performance into actionable recommendations.
  • Build, test, and optimize landing pages, user journeys, and conversion pathways that support campaigns, events, and lead generation.
  • Monitor core web vitals, site navigation, and content pathways; troubleshoot and resolve UI and performance issues.
  • Partner with the Marketing Lead to translate brand direction and campaign goals into effective web experiences, maintaining high graphic standards and brand consistency.
  • Contribute to marketing performance reporting that connects web, content, and campaign activity to pipeline influence for leadership.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies, AI–assisted tools, and best practices across front–end development, SEO, and web performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, digital marketing, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • In–depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment).
  • 3–5 years of experience in front–end development or a hands–on web role, ideally with exposure to SEO, web optimization, or digital marketing.
  • Proficiency in React.js and JavaScript with a strong understanding of their core principles.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous operations.
  • Experience with PHP (or a strong willingness to learn PHP) for CMS templating and customization.
  • Experience managing and maintaining WordPress websites, including content updates, plugin management, CMS administration, and troubleshooting website integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern front–end build tools.
  • Demonstrated SEO experience, including on–page optimization, keyword research, and technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics/GA4 and Search Console) and the ability to turn data into clear recommendations.
  • An eye for aesthetics, design, and brand consistency; prior UI/UX design experience is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills: self–directed and capable of working effectively in a highly kinetic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to facilitate own meetings as necessary, comfortable working with customers as well as all levels of the organization.
