Maintain accurate notes, statuses, appointments, and shipment information in Truckman and related systems.

Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, rail terminals, dispatchers, and internal team members.

Respond to operational emails and follow up on unresolved issues.

Assist with routing and scheduling based on driver availability, appointment requirements, location, and hours of service.

Upload bills of lading, delivery documents, rail documents, and other shipment paperwork.

Finalize daily paperwork and verify that required documents have been received.

Prepare next-day dispatch sheets, work schedules, termination sheets, and container documents.

Review the following day’s workload and identify missing information or potential problems.

Provide a complete and reliable end-of-shift handoff to the next dispatcher or manager.

Follow company procedures and escalate non-routine decisions to the Dispatch Manager.

Provide vacation or weekend coverage when mutually scheduled and needed.

Perform other dispatch and operational support duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, routing, customer service, or another time-sensitive coordination role.

Intermodal, drayage, trucking, rail-yard, or container experience is strongly preferred but not required for a candidate with strong transferable experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to write clear, professional customer emails and shipment updates.

Strong customer-service and driver-support skills.

Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional under pressure.

Strong judgment and problem-solving ability.

Ability to recognize urgent service issues and escalate them appropriately.

Basic understanding of routes, travel times, appointments, and scheduling.

Comfortable learning Chicago-area rail terminals, highways, customer locations, and intermodal terminology.
