This position is hybrid, but it includes periodic travel to Goodwill sites in our territory, as well as in-office days at the corporate office. Therefore, the preferred candidate should live within commuting distance of our corporate office in downtown Indianapolis. The general salary range for this position is $60-$70K and includes full benefits (below).

Job Summary

The Marketing Creative Manager leads Goodwill Legacy Group's Creative Services team, overseeing Graphic Designers, Content Managers, and external creative partners. This role manages creative workflows, provides strategic creative direction, and ensures the successful execution of brand-consistent marketing, communications, environmental graphics, signage, print, and digital projects across the organization. This role collaborates with stakeholders to deliver high-quality creative solutions that support business objectives while developing team members and maintaining production excellence.

Example Duties and Activities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Graphic Designers, Content Managers, and external creative resources.

  • Manage creative workflows, project priorities, timelines, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Provide creative direction and design expertise to ensure brand consistency and high-quality deliverables.

  • Conceptualize, design, and oversee the development of print, digital, environmental, signage, and promotional materials.

  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications (MARCOM) and organizational stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, budgets, and objectives.

  • Review and provide feedback on creative work to ensure effectiveness, accuracy, and alignment with brand standards.

  • Manage vendor relationships, production processes, sourcing decisions, and installation of finished materials.

  • Develop innovative creative solutions and present recommendations to internal stakeholders.

  • Oversee environmental graphics and visual branding projects for retail, education, mission, and corporate facilities.

  • Coordinate photography, videography, and other creative content production as needed.

  • Support digital, interactive, and web-based creative initiatives.

  • Monitor project budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

  • Contribute creative ideas and strategic recommendations to marketing and organizational initiatives.

  • Maintain knowledge of design trends, production methods, and organizational priorities to drive continuous improvement.

Required Competencies

  • Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor's degree in visual communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred.

  • Graphic Design Expertise - Has a track record of success in the ability to strategically develop, conceptualize, design, and produce effective design solutions. Knowledgeable about preparing print design files for print vendors. Stays relevant and current with design techniques as evidenced by a strong online visual portfolio. Adept at utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).

  • Creative Direction - Experienced in producing effective design work and leading/mentoring a creative team of designers, photographers, and videographers (both internal and outsourced). Enables direct reports and co-workers to grow and succeed through feedback, instruction, and encouragement to ensure their success and the accomplishment of organizational goals. Solid knowledge of web, digital media, and social media practices. Knowledgeable of various printing/production processes including large format/flatbed printing, printing presses, packaging capabilities, and ability to determine best production processes for projects.

  • Project Management (Marketing) - Oversees multiple workstreams and delivers against scopes implementing strategies that outline time, resources, requirements, deadlines, and answers to unexpected events to streamline the process and achieve successful project completion. Coordinates production including managing outside vendor resources and ensures installation/implementation of the finished product. Financially evaluates cost/benefit options for various strategic sourcing solutions and effectively negotiates and manages budgets. Demonstrates leadership skills, especially around communication/innovative solutions to problems, concerns, issues, and roadblocks.

  • Planning and Prioritization - Manages competing demands by effectively organizing and prioritizing projects considering operational objectives/timelines and maintaining customer service excellence. Excellent time management, planning, scheduling, and coordination skills. Is able to work in a highly structured environment and quickly adapts to changes in priorities or deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Effectively navigates complex situations to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.

  • Building Collaborative Relationships - Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships at all levels with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support. Is able to receive as well as provide feedback to improve performance or processes; builds and maintains customer satisfaction and is adept at vendor negotiation.

  • Technical Knowledge - Has proficient knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Preferred Competencies

  • Photography/Videography Ability - Knowledgeable of photography/videography setups, compositions, and photo/video editing. Basic proficiency with a digital camera and video equipment to compose and take photos/videos. Works with creative teams and clients to plan video shoots. Basic knowledge of the setting up and taking down of cameras, microphones, lighting, props, and other equipment. The ability to edit the footage after the video recording is a plus.

  • Social/Digital- Knowledgeable of digital/social media platforms and trends and is able to design effectively for each.

  • Editing and Proofreading - Evaluates content that is provided and creates visual layouts that enhance the content provided. Serves as an additional proof of content provided and is able to provide potential content alternatives that create additional layout opportunities to enhance the message visually. Communicates clearly and tactfully with all team members any changes, suggestions, and directions for improvement.

  • Web- PHP/WordPress web development/design skills a plus.

  • Environmental/Space Design - Understanding of building specs, plans, and permitting processes to develop and plan for exterior signage, interior signage, and event signage. Measuring/space planning large spaces to concept scale-appropriate visuals (digital/signage). Knowledge of building/architectural terms and architectural design trends for new build locations.
