Job description

Job Summary:
The Construction Lift Spotter is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of aerial lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts on construction sites. This role focuses on maintaining clear communication with lift operators, identifying potential hazards, and protecting workers, equipment, and surrounding structures. The Lift Spotter plays a critical role in job site safety and compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a dedicated spotter for aerial lifts, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Monitor lift movement to prevent contact with personnel, structures, overhead utilities, and equipment.
  • Maintain clear line-of-sight with lift operators and provide hand signals or radio communication as needed.
  • Identify and communicate hazards such as uneven ground, overhead obstructions, power lines, and pedestrian traffic.
  • Establish and maintain exclusion zones and barricades around lift operations.
  • Assist operators with positioning, loading, and unloading materials when required.
  • Stop lift operations immediately if unsafe conditions are observed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and company policies.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
