This role performs welding operations on structural steel components, fuel tanks, frames, and related assemblies while ensuring products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and capable of producing high-quality welds in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Success in this role will be measured through weld quality, productivity, safety performance, adherence to specifications, and overall contribution to manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding duties using MIG, TIG, wire-feed welding equipment, spot welders, and oxy-acetylene torches as required
  • Clean, grind, and dress welds to achieve quality and appearance standards
  • Set up and lay out work using material handling equipment and manual layout methods to fabricate or rework finished products
  • Operate hand-held fabrication and finishing tools including grinders, sanders, wire wheels, and other shop equipment
  • Weld structural components including I-beams, frames, fuel tanks, and related assemblies in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Clamp, position, tack weld, drill, mill, tap, cut, and bolt components together to achieve proper fit-up and alignment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication
  • Inspect products, equipment, and tools for defects, damage, or malfunctions
  • Produce quality welds that meet engineering drawings, specifications, and company standards
  • Inspect completed welds and perform rework as necessary to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Replace welding wire, shielding gas, and consumables as needed to maintain production and weld quality
  • Ensure welding equipment is properly set up, maintained, and operated in a safe manner
  • Perform routine inspections of welding machines and request maintenance or repairs when needed
  • Assist with fuel tank pressure testing activities and perform required repairs or modifications
  • Complete assigned work within established productivity, schedule, and quality expectations
  • Accurately document labor hours and completed work through company reporting systems or timesheets
  • Report material shortages, quality concerns, production issues, and safety observations to supervisors promptly
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times

What We're Looking For

  • Experience performing MIG welding in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment
  • TIG welding experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols
  • Knowledge of welding equipment, fabrication processes, and metalworking techniques
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and measuring equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to accurately use measurement tools
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Flexible and responsive with a strong team-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to cross-train and support other manufacturing operations as needed
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement

 Required Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • MIG Welding Certification preferred
  • TIG Welding Certification is a plus
  • Vocational welding training or prior welding education preferred
  • Additional welding certifications or industry-related training are beneficial
  • Experience requirements may vary based on demonstrated welding skill level and technical assessment

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform welding in multiple positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead
  • Ability to work safely around welding equipment, moving machinery, heat, sparks, fumes, and noise while wearing required PPE
  • Ability to safely operate welding, grinding, cutting, and fabrication equipment
