Responsibilities
- Perform field testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and CDOT standards.
- Conduct soil density testing using nuclear density gauges and other approved methods.
- Observe earthwork operations, foundation excavations, utility trench backfill, concrete placement, and pavement construction.
- Collect and transport soil, concrete, and aggregate samples for laboratory testing.
- Accurately document field observations, testing results, and daily reports using electronic reporting software.
- Communicate test results and project updates with project managers, contractors, and clients.
- Maintain, calibrate, and operate testing equipment.
- Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Drive to multiple job sites throughout the Denver Metro area and Front Range.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or coursework in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of geotechnical, construction materials testing, or inspection experience preferred.
- Current ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I certification preferred.
- Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Certification preferred.
- ICC, NICET, or WAQTC certifications are a plus.
- Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and mobile reporting applications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
