How much do weather mechanical engineer jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 13, 2026, the average yearly pay for weather mechanical engineer in the United States is $102,878.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $81,500.00 and $126,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior mechanical engineers, especially those with specialized expertise in areas like aerospace, oil and gas, or working in high-cost-of-living regions, can earn $300,000 or more annually. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced certifications, and leadership roles within organizations.

Can I make 200k as a mechanical engineer?

Weather mechanical engineers, like other specialized mechanical engineers, can potentially earn $200,000 or more annually with extensive experience, advanced skills, and working in high-paying industries or management roles. Achieving this salary often requires advanced certifications, a strong track record, and working in regions with higher compensation levels. Entry-level salaries are typically lower, but experienced engineers in leadership positions can reach or exceed this figure.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as petroleum, aerospace, or software engineering can earn $500,000 or more annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes leadership roles or executive positions.

Can you be a meteorologist with an engineering degree?

A weather mechanical engineer typically has an engineering background focused on systems and equipment, while a meteorologist usually holds a degree in atmospheric sciences or meteorology. Transitioning between these roles may require additional training or certification in meteorology, but an engineering degree alone does not qualify someone as a meteorologist. Both careers involve understanding weather phenomena, but they require different specialized knowledge and skills.

Job description

SUMMARY

This full-time position provides hands-on engineering support to plant operations and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Key responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams to support lean manufacturing efforts, improve processes, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency. The role also includes designing machinery components and tooling, troubleshooting production-related issues, and identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mechanical Engineer is expected to rely on their extensive experience and expertise to fulfill the functions of the role with minimal supervision. This position requires the customary and regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the following essential duties:

  • Analyze, design, and prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and documentation for machinery, tooling, fixtures, and equipment modifications using CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Evaluate/assess the components needed to design or modify equipment.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve manufacturing processes and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Create work instructions that enhance plant safety, efficiency, and training in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Oversee mechanical equipment installation and train mechanics on its use and interpretation
  • Skilled in data analysis and quick to resolve problems using root cause techniques.
  • Guide the Machine Shop on material grade and bar stock selection to optimize tooling performance and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the machine shop supervisor on new tooling, fixtures and other machine components to reduce changeover times.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while providing support across cross-functional departments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Educational experience requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. On a case-by-case basis, the Company will consider individuals with the equivalent practical knowledge to this degree. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment is also required.

SKILLS

Language: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, create, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; ability to clearly communicate technical requirements to production, maintenance, quality, suppliers, and vendors.

Computer: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) for parts/assemblies and production drawings. Familiarity with manufacturing systems/ERP for routings, work orders, and part master data; ability to analyze and summarize production/quality data using Excel (e.g., pivot tables and charts).

Reasoning: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone); ability to evaluate risk and manufacturability considerations and support corrective/preventive actions; ability to prioritize work, make sound recommendations, and support implementation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Other: Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities; effective cross-functional teamwork and shop-floor engagement; attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement; ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation and follow established procedures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), GD&T (ASME Y14.5) training/certification, and SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP) certification are a plus.
