Weather Data Analyst Internship information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weather Data Analyst Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weather Data Analyst Intern, you need a solid background in meteorology, statistics, and data analysis, often supported by coursework or a degree in atmospheric science, environmental science, or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R, experience with data visualization tools, and knowledge of meteorological datasets and software (such as GIS or MATLAB) are typically required. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help interns interpret complex data and share insights with diverse audiences. These skills and qualities are essential for accurately analyzing weather patterns and supporting informed decision-making in meteorological research or operations.

What are some common challenges faced during a Weather Data Analyst Internship, and how can interns effectively address them?

Weather Data Analyst Interns often encounter challenges such as interpreting large and complex datasets, dealing with missing or inconsistent data, and learning to use specialized meteorological software. To address these challenges, interns should actively seek guidance from senior analysts, utilize available training resources, and practice with real datasets. Collaborating closely with team members and participating in regular meetings can also help interns gain deeper insights into analytical techniques and industry best practices.

Job description

Data Analyst Internship (Revenue Cycle & Analytics)

Chicago, Illinois, United States

About AAC

Ambulatory Anesthesia Care (AAC) is a national leader in office-based anesthesia services. We partner with practices across the country to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care outside the hospital setting. As we continue to grow, we are investing in data, analytics, and operational excellence to support smarter, faster decision-making.

About the Role

We're looking for a Data Analyst Intern to support key initiatives across revenue cycle operations, reporting, and analytics.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work with real healthcare data — including billing, payer performance, and operational KPIs — while partnering directly with leadership on active financial and operational initiatives.

If you enjoy working with data, building dashboards, and uncovering insights that drive decisions, this role is for you.

What You'll Do
  • Analyze revenue cycle, billing, and operational data across multiple markets
  • Build and maintain dashboards (Power BI or similar tools)
  • Support reporting on claims activity, payer performance, and reimbursement trends
  • Clean, validate, and organize datasets (Excel, CSV, internal systems)
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within revenue cycle performance
  • Support key initiatives (e.g., RN billing pilots, payer analysis, operational reporting)
  • Partner cross-functionally with revenue cycle, credentialing, and operations teams
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and analytics projects
What We're Looking For
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation)
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools preferred
  • Basic knowledge of SQL is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (able to translate data into insights)
What You'll Gain
  • Hands-on experience with real healthcare and financial data
  • Exposure to revenue cycle operations and payer strategy
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting tools
  • Direct mentorship and feedback from leadership
  • A portfolio of real analytics projects (dashboards, reports, models)
Program Details
  • 15–20 hours per week (flexible schedule)
  • 10–12 week internship (potential to extend)
  • Unpaid internship (academic credit encouraged)
  • Weekly mentorship and feedback sessions
Equal Opportunity Employer

AAC is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
