Job Description

Summary

Provide technical support to federal, state, and local government agencies by maintaining microwave, telephone, two-way radio, digital trunked radio, data and video communications equipment and systems. This position will follow established procedures to provide ongoing preventative maintenance and failure resolution of systems and support equipment, creating and updating circuit and equipment records to fill public safety needs and inter-government requirements.

Roles & Responsibilites

Duties include:

  • Assists in the design and installation of equipment to meet agencies' requests and requirements. Assists in the design and fabrication of new and untried electronic equipment.
  • Be able to properly operate test equipment, to include service monitors, spectrum analyzers, T1 testers, power meters, and RF cable analyzers and provide expertise to other team members.
  • Clear understanding of TDM circuits and related equipment including DS0, DS1, and DS3 signaling and M13 and channel bank multiplexers.
  • Be able to identify undesired performance of subscriber radio equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to properly connectorize hardline coaxial cable.
  • Knowledge of -48 VDC power systems, rectifiers, inverters, and batteries.
  • Provide emergency failure repair service on a 24 hour by 7 days per week on-call basis to maintain public safety communications.
  • Repairs may require the use of a four-wheel drive vehicle and/or Sno-Cat (all terrain vehicle), to reach the remote locations under severe weather conditions.
  • Be able to climb tower in excess of 350 feet in height and install antennas and coaxial cable, and waveguide.
